Exactly twelve years nine months and two weeks ago I went through foreclosure. I did everything like a good little member of society: went to college, graduated in resort and hotel management, went on to be a chef in some pretty high end restaurants, lived on St. Johns U.S. Virgin Islands and finally settled back in High Point, North Carolina to build the real estate empire I always wanted.

Real estate investing was all I ever really wanted to do, but because I wasn’t sure how to get into it I kept putting it off. Then I finally got the guts up to buy a course off TV, despite the little voice “Hey if this is so great why isn’t everybody doing it?” As I studied my new program at my restaurant, I was ridiculed by EVERYONE at work that saw me listening to my tapes and reading the books.

After I took my first leap of faith I went on to purchase over 66 properties in less than 24 months! I had amassed over $2,000,000 in equity just like the guys on television said it would be…Hooray!

Then I woke up one morning to see it all come crashing down, my outgo exceeded my income and my tenants were getting the best of me. I owned lots of low end properties that kept getting torn to shreds.

I still remember the day the bank came out and put the padlock on my front door. My wife Sofia, daughter Allie, two dogs and three turtles went through one of those life altering experiences.

I sat in the front yard hands on my head feeling defeated. The only thing I ever wanted to do started to look like a complete defeat.

As I struggled to get that gut wrenching feeling of failure out of my mind, a phrase out of Napoleon Hill’s book flickered - “out of every failure comes the seed of a much greater success”. And I began to come up with new possibilities. On the heels of that, I uttered a declaration.

“I will take this foreclosure that almost destroyed me, and use it as a seed to grow my much greater success!”

At that moment, in complete possibility, I saw myself making gobs of money in my new real estate business.

I would become such an expert that people would search me out! My name itself would become synonymous with successful foreclosure investing across the country.

Little did I know this declaration would morph into nationally accepted investment policies that would dictate how preforeclosure and short sales are transacted in our country today.

I could feel my skin tingle, and the wind blew…it was almost like the universe opened up the vortex to let my wish in.

Since that time, and over $21,000,000 ago, our network has negotiated over One Billion Dollars in short sales. I’ve helped over one million families from losing their homes to foreclosure. Truth be known, my mission has just begun. I want to help a million families more.
